Recognised Expert Community
Next to regular members, the LIFES community will increasingly ‘recognise’ particular expert communities for defined aspects needed to reach the common goals of LIFES members. These ‘Recognised Expert Communities’ (RECs) typically have a standing reputation and mandate in their respective community with a particular focus and membership composition. They can cover one or multiple FAIR related aspects of importance to the ambitions of the LIFES community. With the proviso that no-one in LIFES will strive for a monopoly or provider lock-in, RECs can be formally recognised by the LIFES community as ‘leading’ a particular aspect of LIFES. They should be open to engagement with parties that are not a member under their own transparent conditions and with other, potentially partly overlapping RECs. They should also encourage their members to join the LIFES community, where appropriate as members.
