Starter Kit – SenScience FAIR² Data Platform
SenScience demonstrated FAIR², their AI-assisted platform for publishing datasets as FAIR-compliant data — developed in partnership with Frontiers. Researchers upload their dataset alongside any methodological documentation, and the platform's AI assistant Clara automatically extracts metadata, generates a structured data dictionary, produces visualizations, and composes a full data article describing the dataset.
The workflow is step-by-step, with the researcher reviewing and approving each AI-generated element before proceeding. The output is a published data article paired with an interactive data portal where visitors can explore data, run a pre-loaded Jupyter notebook, and download the full data package. A non-editable FAIR compliance certificate — generated by the platform — documents point-by-point adherence to the FAIR principles, including AI readiness. The entire process is designed to be accessible to any researcher, without requiring specialist data management expertise.
Starter Kit – Euretos Disease Atlas
Euretos presented the Disease Atlas, a newly launched platform designed to help translational researchers understand disease biology from the level of organs and tissues down to individual cell types and molecules. The platform integrates data from over 100 million publications, 2.5 million patents, and more than 200 multi-omics databases, overlaid onto detailed anatomical maps covering 34,000 diseases and phenotypes.
For any given disease, researchers can visualize which cell types, genes, and drug targets are most strongly implicated, and run target discovery and indication expansion analyses — all within an interactive, point-and-click interface built for biologists rather than bioinformaticians. Academic access is free, with paid tiers available for teams and commercial users.
Within the LIFES ecosystem, Euretos positions itself as a large-scale established knowledge data station: FAIR-compliant internally and open to receiving queries from FAIR data trains, with a vision of publishing a catalogue of the specific scientific questions the platform can answer.
ODRL Demo - 4LIFESupport
4LifeSupport demonstrated a working implementation of ODRL (Open Digital Rights Language) as a machine-actionable way to define and enforce data access agreements within the FAIR data ecosystem. While FAIR data points make datasets findable, the conditions for actually accessing that data are rarely machine-readable — often reduced to a simple "not open" label.
ODRL addresses this by expressing access policies as structured, enforceable statements that machines can interpret and act on, while an LLM layer automatically generates a plain-language explanation of each step for human stakeholders.
The demo used a fictional registry for a rare neuromuscular disease, walking through a ten-step negotiation flow — from ethical approval to signed research agreement to publication conditions — with the backend enforcing constraints in real time. For instance, if a researcher's institutional affiliation changes, the system automatically blocks further steps. The work sits within the broader Station Talk Library framework, which defines the interaction language between FAIR data trains and data stations, and lays the foundation for fully automated, machine-negotiated data access.
