The GO [Global Open] FAIR Foundation guides people and organisations on solutions for making data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable [FAIR] for both people and machines.
Working closely with the community, the GO FAIR Foundation offers explicit, expert interpretation of each of the FAIR Guiding Principles. And GO FAIR interpretations of FAIR lead to specifications that guide FAIR implementation choices.
Why did your organisation join the LIFES community?
The GO FAIR Foundation started the idea of LIFES in 2023. With a relative small team, we defined the benefits of an international, pragmatic Public Private Partnership (PPP) in order to demonstrate the power of data-sharing and data-visiting according to the FAIR Principles. We felt that this approach could benefit multiple domains and could lead to a large number of compelling FAIR-related use cases.
How is FAIR and equitable science and innovation relevant to your organisation?
The goals of LIFES are crucial and fully in line with the views at the GO FAIR Foundation. LIFES can help to bring the demand and the supply side of structured data together, in an equitable and innovative way. This is completely in line with the FAIR Principles.
What would your organisation like to contribute to the LIFES community?
The GO FAIR Foundation (GFF) started the initiative and offered the consortium to manage LIFES as a GFF-project for just over 18 months. After this initial period, LIFES would be mature enough to continue as a separate legal entity, as an Association. The GO FAIR Foundation will continue to play an active role in the LIFES Association.
