Implement

We help data owners to implement FAIR capabilities by brokering access to a fast-growing community of LIFES-qualified Application Service Providers (ASPs)

Enabling FAIR data visiting

One of the main aims of LIFES is to support the spread of FAIR Data Stations where data can be visited for equitable reuse. In order to stimulate this, we are developing a Starter Kit which helps data owners to learn how to become a node in the Internet of FAIR data and Services. This way data owners get hands-on experience with FAIR and build up practical experience needed to make informed decisions on implementation in their own context.

LIFES Starter Kit

The LIFES Starter Kit will contain the following:

  • Sandbox offerings from LIFES ASPs which are designed to be small scale and cost-effective for users to ‘play with’ for a maximum of 1 year. These cover:

    • Distributed Analytics platforms

    • FAIRification tools

    • Other types of services

  • A 1-year LIFES membership to ensure that the new users can participate in all LIFES meetings and have the latest information about new developments

  • Training on FAIR including eLearning

At any time during the 1-year sandbox period users can decide how they want to move forward based on the experiences they gained.

Community qualification

An important aspect of the implementation approach of LIFES is to create a self-qualification framework for FAIR-enabling resources. The qualification criteria will be agreed within the LIFES community and ASPs will then be able to self-qualify their services and applications against these criteria. Potential users of these resources can then use these self-qualification statements as part of their engagement process with the provider. In order to become part of the LIFES Starter Kit, self-qualification is mandatory.
